Secure Software Development

Future trends in Secure Software Development

Unit 11

Welcome to Week 11 where we will look at a number of trends and advances in both academic research and industry that serve as indicators around the general direction of research and development in the area of secure software development.

Outcomes

  • Summary of the learning outcomes

This unit aims to:

  • Give examples of fog computing, IoT and Cyber Physical System components and solutions
  • Describe some of the security issues with the above-mentioned systems
  • Recommend emerging technologies and solutions to investigate
  • Reflection

What exactly have I learnt and how?

I have learnt about the features of microservices and why they are the future. The best advantage of microservices is that even if one microservice fails, the other software functions can continue to work as features are separated into different services. In addition, we were able to submit our development project. When planning the project, I was afraid because I had seen that the journey would be challenging. However, with my willingness to learn and motivation to take challenges, I attended the Django course. I spent over 10 hours per day learning this framework for three weeks. Besides helping my team develop the NCTTS project, I also participated in this course for private interests. Since my goal is to become a full-stack developer, with the Django full-stack framework, my goals have become closer.
